Nicholas Metson, 28, has been sentenced to life imprisonment with a minimum term of 19 years for the murder of his wife, Holly Bramley, 26.

Metson fatally stabbed Bramley at least four times in March 2023 before dismembering her body into over 200 pieces and enlisting a friend, Joshua Hancock, to help dispose of her remains in a river.

Hancock received a three-year and three-month prison sentence along with a 10-year sexual harm prevention order.

During the sentencing at Lincoln Crown Court, His Honour Judge Simon Hirst remarked that the cause of Bramley’s death could not be established due to how Metson treated her body after killing her.

Bramley’s remains were discovered by an individual who initially mistook them for animal remains. Parts of her body, including portions of her heart, were never recovered.

Initially denying the charges, Metson later changed his plea to guilty before the trial commenced.

Prior to the discovery of Bramley’s remains, Lincolnshire Police visited the couple’s flat, where they detected signs of foul play, including a strong smell of bleach and ammonia, bloodstained sheets, and a saw.

Metson falsely claimed that Bramley had left their residence in the company of mental health crisis team members.

Further investigation revealed incriminating Google searches on Metson’s phone, including queries such as “How to get rid of a dead body” and “What benefits can I get if my wife dies.”

Additionally, Metson had messaged Hancock, offering him money for assistance with an unspecified “job.”

The court found Metson guilty of murder and perverting the course of justice based on this evidence.
