Reinstated Ghana head coach, Otto Addo, has unveiled a robust squad for the international friendly against Nigeria, featuring notable names such as Jordan and Andre Ayew, Mohammed Kudus, and Tariq Lamptey.

The match, set to take place in Marrakech, Morocco, marks the start of a fresh era for both teams, with the Eagles undergoing a transition post the tenure of former coach Jose Peseiro, and the Black Stars appointing Addo after parting ways with Chris Hughton in January.

Addo, returning to the helm after stepping down post the 2022 World Cup, where Ghana’s campaign ended disappointingly, will lead his side against Nigeria in his first outing since reclaiming the coaching role, aiming for victory against their long-standing rivals.

In the squad announcement, captain Ayew, alongside his brother Jordan, Kudus, Osman Bukari, Samed Abdul Samed, and Elisha Owusu have secured their places.

Additionally, players such as David Akologo from Bolivia, Ibrahim Osman from Nordsjaelland, Nathaniel Adjei based in France, and Diomande Mohammed from Rangers of Scotland have earned spots in Ghana’s 27-man squad.

However, Arsenal midfielder Thomas Partey has opted out of the squad to focus on regaining match fitness after a lengthy spell on the sidelines due to a severe thigh injury. The decision comes following a request from Partey himself, as he looks to fully recover from an injury described by former Black Stars boss Hughton as the most severe in the player’s career.
