The two-year-old boy, Ivan Omhonria, tragically killed by National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) operatives in Delta State, has been laid to rest.

The unfortunate incident occurred on July 13, 2023, during an NDLEA raid in the Okpanam area, resulting in the death of Ivan and injuries to his sibling.

The victims, having just returned from school to their mother’s shop, were hit by stray bullets.

Mr. Fidelis Omhonria, the grieving father, spoke about the family’s challenging time during an interview in Asaba, Delta State.

The funeral service for Ivan took place at St. Vienna Catholic Church, DBS Road, and he was interred at the burial ground.

Expressing the family’s concerns, Mr. Omhonria stated, “He has gone to his maker. Our concern now is how to treat the child (his sibling).”

Notably, NDLEA representatives from the operational headquarters were present at the burial and are assisting the family in expediting the visa process for the injured sibling to receive further treatment in the United States.

Acknowledging the support from the Delta State Government, Mr. Omhonria mentioned that they have requested the US Embassy to hasten the visa process.

The focus now is on caring for the surviving child, who has issues with his eyes and requires medical attention.

In his plea to the public, Mr. Omhonria asked for prayers for the family during this challenging time.

He emphasized the importance of divine intervention and support for the recovery of the boy with eye injuries, who is now one year and a few months old.
