Dr. Omololu Olunloyo, an elder statesman and former governor of old Oyo State, has dispelled rumors of his demise, affirming that he is alive and well.

Speaking to a correspondent from The PUNCH who visited his residence in Molete, Ibadan, Dr. Olunloyo asserted his good health and vitality.

Earlier reports circulating on some news platforms had falsely reported the death of the respected statesman. However, Dr. Olunloyo himself addressed the issue directly, stating, “I’m still here, not yet gone.”

He expressed concern over the spread of such rumors and philosophically remarked on the inevitability of mortality, emphasizing that both the purveyors of death news and the subjects themselves will ultimately meet their end.

Reflecting on his own longevity, Dr. Olunloyo shared that while his father passed away at 42 and his mother lived to be 102, he, at 89, has surpassed the expected lifespan.

He recounted how the rumor of his death circulated across various news platforms on June 7, 2022, with false claims suggesting he had passed away at the University College Hospital, Ibadan.

Following the misinformation, Dr. Olunloyo’s family issued a statement clarifying that he was not deceased but rather grappling with health challenges associated with old age.

They requested prayers for his recovery from these ailments.

Further details on this matter are expected to be provided in due course.
