The Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA) has officially confirmed the dismissal of five officers and the reprimand of two others due to corruption and misconduct in the course of their duties in the state.

This announcement was made in a statement by Adebayo Taofiq, the Public Relations Officer of LASTMA, on Sunday.

The statement revealed that the Lagos State Civil Service Commission approved the recommendations made by the Personnel Management Board concerning the seven LASTMA officers who were implicated in corrupt practices during their meeting on Tuesday, August 19, 2023.

Five of the officers received termination letters for corruption, while the other two were reprimanded for unauthorized absence from duty posts.

Bakare Oki, the acting General Manager of LASTMA, emphasized that the disciplinary actions taken were in accordance with the Lagos State Civil Service Rules and Regulations.

He urged the public to continue sharing their experiences and providing relevant evidence regarding alleged misconducts to help the agency improve its operations.

Oki also appealed to Lagos drivers to adhere to the state traffic laws to avoid penalties and assured the public that complaints would be swiftly and impartially investigated.

The statement noted that cases against the remaining 14 indicted LASTMA officials are still under administrative review.

Furthermore, Oki encouraged the public to use various channels for lodging complaints, including phone numbers (08100565860, 08129928515, 08129928503, and 08129928597 for WhatsApp only), as well as contacting the Provost on 08129928490.

He assured the public that all complaints would be thoroughly and promptly investigated to ensure a Greater Lagos for the benefit of all residents, aligning with Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu’s objectives in traffic management and transportation.
