The Federal Government of Nigeria has announced Tuesday, April 9, and Wednesday, April 10, 2024, as public holidays to commemorate the Eid-el-Fitr celebration.

This declaration was made by the Minister of Interior, Dr. Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, as conveyed in a statement by the ministry’s permanent secretary, Aishetu Ndayako.

In the statement, the Minister extended congratulations to all Muslims for the successful completion of the fasting during the holy month of Ramadan.

Tunji-Ojo urged Muslims to embody and uphold the virtues of kindness, love, tolerance, peace, good neighborliness, and compassion, as exemplified by the Holy Prophet Muhammad (Peace be upon Him).

Furthermore, the Minister emphasized the importance of unity among Nigerians, calling on everyone to work towards improving and achieving peace and unity in the country.

In closing, Dr. Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo wished the Muslim Ummah a joyous Eid-el-Fitr celebration, and prayed for the peace, blessings, and favor of Allah upon all individuals and the nation as a whole.
