In the early hours of Monday, a tragic fire incident occurred in a residential building in the Adealu area of Lagos State, resulting in the feared death of one person.
Margaret Adeseye, the Director of Lagos State Fire and Rescue Service, confirmed the incident in a statement released to PUNCH Online.
The fire reportedly engulfed the upper floor of a four-flat storey building, prompting a swift response from emergency responders to contain its spread.

While the quick intervention prevented further damage, one male adult was found at the scene and is suspected to have lost his life in the fire.
Adeseye disclosed that the distress call came in at about 04:56hrs, leading emergency teams to 49, Ogunjebe Street, Adealu Bus Stop, Dopemu-Agege, Lagos.
The fire was confined to the rear flat on the upper floor before being extinguished. The building, a two-bedroom flat, contained household contents.
The authorities are likely to conduct further investigations to determine the cause of the fire and gather more details about the victim.
