Enugu Rangers coach, Fidelis Ilechukwu, has emphasized that winning the 2023/24 Nigeria Premier Football League title isn’t their primary target despite leading the table.
With 54 points from 31 matches, Enugu Rangers top the table, narrowly ahead of Enyimba by two points. Other contenders include Lobi Stars, Plateau United, and Remo Stars.
Despite displacing Lobi weeks ago to claim the top spot, Ilechukwu insists they’re not focused on the title race.

“Our main focus is on building a strong team structure,” Ilechukwu stated via 54footballx. “Maybe next season, we’ll consider the title. Thinking about it now would only add unnecessary pressure.”
Despite their impressive record of 16 wins this season and a 10-game unbeaten streak, Rangers faced a setback with a 2-0 defeat to Rivers United in their last match, reducing their lead to just two points.
Ilechukwu, who took charge at the beginning of the season, remains undeterred, advocating for a game-by-game approach and maintaining positivity.
Their upcoming fixture against Plateau United at the Nnamdi Azikiwe Stadium in Enugu awaits, where they aim to bounce back from their recent loss.
