The Ogun State Police Command announced on Tuesday its plans to enhance security measures during the Eid-el-Fitri period, with increased roadblocks and patrols in certain areas to combat criminal activities. Deploying operatives to oversee praying grounds and collaborating with other security agencies, Commissioner of Police Abiodun Alamutu instructed supervisory Area Commanders to provide regular situation reports throughout the celebrations.

In a statement issued by state police spokesperson, SP Omolola Odutola, it was revealed that officers have been stationed at critical flashpoints since April 8, 2024.

These locations include Kemta, Bamboo, Onigarri, Odeda, Long Bridge, Alapako, Ogunmakin, Foursquare, and Straight Gate, where thorough security checks and barricaded stop-and-search operations are being conducted.

Highlighting the importance of public cooperation, the command emphasized that visitors entering Ogun State should expect rigorous security checks and urged patience during the process.

Specialized units, including Explosive Ordnance Disposal, Counter Terrorism, and Mobile Police, will be stationed at prayer grounds to prevent attacks and deter criminals.

Additionally, other security agencies, in collaboration with the Ogun State Police Command, will conduct patrols along the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway and Sagamu-Benin Highway.

Residents accessing various establishments such as point-of-sale locations, eateries, lounges, restaurants, and hotels have been cautioned to remain vigilant and secure their belongings to avoid falling victim to criminal activities.
