The Ogun State government has affirmed its willingness to cooperate with the federal government’s agricultural initiative in addressing food security challenges within the state.

Samuel Adeogun, the Permanent Secretary at the Ministry of Agriculture, conveyed this dedication during a Capacity Building Training held for the Ogun State Ministry of Agriculture staff, focusing on Data Management and ICT applications.

The training session took place on Tuesday at the OPIC Building in Abeokuta.

Adeogun, acting on behalf of the Commissioner for Agriculture, Bolu Owotomo, outlined Ogun State’s goal to empower more than two hundred and sixty thousand farmers, aiming to bolster food production and mitigate the escalating cost of food.

The ministry is actively engaged in compiling a comprehensive list of farmers throughout the state, actively addressing their challenges, and ensuring the provision of essential equipment, chemicals, and support to enhance agricultural productivity.

Adeogun underscored the ongoing significance of the data collection process, emphasizing the three-day training for staff to refine their skills in data management and ICT applications.

He emphasized the critical role of accurate data in empowering farmers, ensuring timely food production, and optimizing revenue generation for various government levels.

Adeogun concluded by affirming the governor’s commitment to allocating resources to enhance the capacity of state civil servants, particularly in the field of Agriculture, to effectively implement government interventions.
