Former Speaker of the House of Representatives, Yakubu Dogara, has called on the Federal Government to include students of private universities in its Students’ Loan Scheme, which was initiated as part of palliative measures to mitigate the effects of fuel subsidy removal.

Dogara, who is also the Chancellor of Achievers University in Ondo State, emphasized the need for the government to ensure the proper management of the loan scheme for the benefit of students across the country, both in private and public tertiary institutions.

Speaking at the 13th convocation ceremony of Achievers University, Dogara commended the Students’ Loan Scheme but urged the government to extend its coverage to private university students as part of the palliative measures, emphasizing that they are also Nigerians and should benefit from the initiative.
