Renowned actor Kanayo O Kanayo, reggae musician Orits Wiliki, and vocalist Yinka Davies were among the distinguished recipients of the Global Affairs Magazine Award (GAMA) on Saturday.

The award ceremony celebrated their outstanding contributions to the growth of the entertainment industry in Nigeria.

Arise News’ Rufai Oseni received the ‘Most Courageous Television Host’ award for his excellence in broadcasting.

Labour Party’s presidential candidate, Peter Obi, was recognized as the ‘Best Politician of the Year 2023,’ while popular comedian Koffi Nuel received an award of excellence for his dedicated service to humanity.

The award ceremony, held in Lagos, also honored Dr. Daniel Olukoya, founder of Mountain of Fire and Miracle Ministries, with a lifetime achievement award for his significant service to humanity.

The theme for this year’s celebration was “A Channel of Hope Where There is Despair.” Regina Robinson, the convener of GAMA, highlighted that the awards aimed to celebrate and reward individuals who have made selfless and positive impacts on others.

GAMA’s goal is to showcase the brighter side of the world by acknowledging those who have supported life-changing causes, particularly in health, and have championed the causes of the less privileged, physically challenged, children with special needs, and the youth population.

Dr. Bala Abraham, Chairman of Global Affairs Magazine, pledged to use the newly launched GAM Foundation to attend to the needs of the needy in society.

Other notable awardees included entrepreneurs Dr. Akintoye Akindele and Dr. Segun Musa, as well as Dr. Bala Abraham, who received a Lifetime Achievement Award for his service to humanity.

Pastor Wale Adefarasin, Princess Ebuwa Iguehon, Dr. John Ejezie, and other individuals were honored with the award of excellence for their outstanding service to humanity.

Expressing their gratitude, comedian Koffi Nuel thanked the organizers for the award and dedicated it to his family, team, and clients who continue to support him.

Orits Wiliki, the reggae artist, appreciated the organizers for recognizing achievements while individuals are still alive, dedicating his award to his family, particularly his last-born sibling, Mrs. Becky.

The GAMA Awards continue to stand as a platform for acknowledging and celebrating individuals and organizations that contribute positively to society, providing hope in times of despair.
