On Thursday, the Court of Appeal in Abuja affirmed the electoral victory of Governor Abdullahi Sule in Nasarawa state.
The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) had previously declared Sule, a member of the All Progressives Congress (APC), as the winner of the election, with David Ombugadu of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) coming second.
The election tribunal, led by Justice Ezekiel Ajayi, had issued a split judgment, contesting INEC’s declaration.

The tribunal argued that, based on evidence from various polling units, Ombugadu secured the majority of valid votes.
However, Governor Sule appealed this decision, urging the appellate court to overturn the tribunal’s judgment.
In the judgment delivered on Thursday, the Court of Appeal took a significant step by expunging the evidence and exhibits from PW5, 6, 7, 8, 12, 13, 20, and 21, which the tribunal had relied upon.
This decision by the appellate court played a pivotal role in affirming Governor Abdullahi Sule’s electoral triumph.
