Four suspects, namely Ibe Obinna, Sheu Robiu, Olorunlayo Emmanuel, and Adebanjo Ayomide, have been arraigned before Magistrate Patrick Nwaka of the Yaba Magistrates’ Court on charges related to alleged rape, sexual assault, and the creation and dissemination of videos depicting the assault.
The defendants were brought before the court on Monday and were charged with three counts of forcible sexual intercourse and the creation and dissemination of videos showing the assault, which were subsequently shared on social media platforms.
According to reports, the defendants allegedly conspired on January 15, 2024, to forcibly engage in sexual intercourse with the victim and executed their plan on the same day by allegedly raping the victim.

Additionally, on February 18, 2024, one of the defendants, Obinna, shared a video of the alleged assault, recorded on his Tecno Pop7 Pro phone, with Emmanuel, Ayomide, and Robiu on Facebook, leading to the video’s widespread dissemination.
The police prosecutor, DSP Thomas Nurudeen, informed the court that the alleged offences contravened Sections 411, 260, and 259 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015.
During the arraignment, the defendants pleaded not guilty to the three-count charge preferred against them.
Subsequently, the Magistrate ordered that each defendant pays a bail sum of N1 million along with four sureties, or be remanded at the Ikoyi Correctional Centre until further hearing of the case.
