A Federal High Court in Port Harcourt, Rivers State, has remanded Mr. Emmanuel Dike and his wife, Ugochi Dike, in the Port Harcourt Correctional Center over an alleged N500 million fraud.

The couple faces charges of conspiracy and fraud, accused of defrauding Clipboard Office Superstores Limited of the sum with the pretense of making investments that would yield a 10% interest.

The accused couple pleaded not guilty to the charges and was granted bail by Justice Patricia I. Ajoku.

The defense counsel assured the court that the defendants would attend all sittings and not jump bail. The prosecution counsel opposed the bail application but was overruled by the court.

Justice Ajoku granted bail of N1 million each to the couple, with a condition that the surety must be a civil servant of at least grade level 12 in Rivers State, providing a letter of employment and a certificate of occupancy.

The surety must reside within the court’s jurisdiction, present passports and photographs, and ensure the defendants’ appearance at the next court sitting. The trial is scheduled to commence on January 30, 2024.
