Eleven individuals lost their lives in separate road accidents in Osun and Ogun states, with two fatalities occurring on Christmas day along the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway.
The accident took place after the Sagamu Interchange, before the RCCG Camp in Mowe, Ogun State, involving an 18-seater Hiace bus traveling from the interchange to Mowe.
The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) confirmed the incident, stating that the accident was caused by wrongful overtaking on the part of the bus driver.

Florence Okpe, the FRSC spokesperson in Ogun State, reported that the crash involved 15 persons, with 12 male adults and three female adults. One person was injured, and two male adults lost their lives.
In another tragic incident, nine passengers lost their lives in a road accident along the Ikirun/Offa Expressway in Inisa.
The accident involved a truck carrying bags of beans and passengers, coming from Niger State and heading to Edo State. The truck lost control, veering into the bush and resulting in fatalities.
Kehinde Adeleke, the Public Relations Officer of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, Osun Command, confirmed the accident at Yidi Junction, Inisa.
She stated that the Mitsubishi Canter, which was involved in the accident, had a plate number MNA606SB NIGER and was carrying bags of beans from Niger State to Benin, Edo State.
The FRSC officers evacuated the injured passengers to Orotunde Hospital in Ikirun, while the remains of the deceased were deposited at the hospital’s morgue.
