Marvellous Omobayo took the oath of office as the new Deputy Governor of Edo State on Monday, administered by Chief Judge Daniel Okungbowa.

Holding a distinguished background in engineering, particularly within the oil and gas sector, Omobayo brings a wealth of progressive professional experience to his new role.

Expressing gratitude in his inaugural address, Omobayo acknowledged Governor Godwin Obaseki and the leadership of the Peoples Democratic Party for entrusting him with the position.

He remarked, “The oath of office I have just taken marks my formal acceptance of responsibility within the legal bounds of my office. Yet, beyond this legal formality, I am deeply appreciative of Governor Godwin Obaseki’s determination to steer Edo State towards a future marked by peace, unity, and visible development.”

Born on July 19, 1986, in Akoko Edo Local Government Area, Omobayo boasts a Bachelor’s degree in Electrical and Electronics Engineering and an MSc in Public Administration from the University of Benin, aligning him well with the demands of public service.

As a registered member of esteemed engineering bodies such as the Nigerian Society of Engineers and the Council for the Regulation of Engineering in Nigeria, Omobayo has demonstrated his commitment to professional standards.

Prior to his appointment, he served as a Senior Maintenance Engineer at Dresser Wayne West Africa Limited, contributing significantly to operations in the South-South region and fostering political engagement within his local community, transcending traditional barriers to advocate for common goals.
