The founder of a branch of the Celestial Church of Christ in Lagos State, Aderemi Dabiri, has defended his decision to invite Fuji singer Alabi Pasuma and street-hop artist Portable to a praise night event.

In a video addressing a delegation from the church’s task force, Dabiri explained that the intention behind the controversial move was to attract new converts, especially those considered as societal deviants.

Dabiri shared that his unconventional approach to evangelism, involving the inclusion of secular artistes, has been successful in the past, leading to the growth of the church membership.

He acknowledged the challenges of reaching certain groups, such as those involved in selling alcoholic drinks, and highlighted the need for a strategic method to bring them into the church.

Expressing dissatisfaction with some gospel ministers’ behavior, Dabiri revealed his preference for secular musicians, citing the respectful response he received from Pasuma when inviting him to the event.

Addressing concerns raised by the church’s task force about the controversy surrounding the invitation, Dabiri affirmed that he had no plans to cancel it.

However, he assured that he would set guidelines for the participating artistes, especially Portable, to ensure the event aligns with the church’s values.

These guidelines include refraining from singing vulgar songs, inappropriate dressing, and discouraging smoking at the venue.

Dabiri emphasized the involvement of military personnel to maintain order during the event.

In conclusion, the cleric appealed to the global Celestial Church community to support his vision, expressing confidence in his unique style of evangelism to bring pride to the church.
