The nominees for this category represent a diverse array of talent, promising an intense competition.
Notable contenders include Burna Boy (City Boys), Olamide Adedeji and Ahmed Ololade aka Asake (Amapiano), Davido featuring Musa Makamu, aka Musa Key (Unavailable), Ayra Starr (Rush), and South Africa’s Tyla Seethal for her hit single ‘Water.’
Tems, recognized for her contribution to the song ‘Lift Me Up,’ part of the ‘Black Panther: Wakanda Forever’ soundtrack, secured a nomination in the Best Song Written for Visual Media category.

The Grammy Awards organizers designed this new category to emphasize Africa’s significant influence on global music.
The inaugural winner of the Best African Music Performance will be announced at the awards ceremony on Sunday, February 4, 2024, at the Crypto.com Arena in Los Angeles, USA.
Davido, a prominent Nigerian artist, expressed his joy for the new category, highlighting its significance for African musicians.
Nominated in two additional categories – Best Global Music Album and Best Global Music Performance – Davido eagerly expressed his desire to bring home the prestigious awards during an interview with France 24. Ayra Starr, another nominee, humorously mentioned having her Grammy speech and outfit ready.
Fans are eagerly anticipating Burna Boy’s performance at the ceremony, given his triple nomination in the categories of ‘Best Melodic Rap,’ ‘Best Global Music Album,’ and ‘Best Global Music Performance.’
The star-studded event will also feature performances by Billie Eilish, Travis Scott, Olivia Rodrigo, and Luke Combs.
