Bayer Leverkusen’s forward, Victor Boniface, eagerly awaits his comeback to the field following a full recovery from an injury sustained during Nigeria’s 2023 Africa Cup of Nations preparation camp in January.

Initially slated for a sidelined period until around April, the 23-year-old has made a remarkable recovery and is poised to make an appearance in Leverkusen’s Bundesliga encounter against TSG Hoffenheim this weekend.

Expressing his anticipation for the match-day 27 fixture, Boniface emphasized his eagerness to contribute to his club once more.

“The team did very well without me. When I came to Leverkusen, I said that I don’t look at rankings or individual scores,” Boniface remarked via Sport Bild.

He continued, “Of course, goals and assists are important, but the most important thing for me is to be able to help the team with my style of play and simply have fun. I really miss being on the pitch with my teammates and hope to be back soon.”

Prior to his injury, Boniface demonstrated remarkable form, notching 16 goals and eight assists in 23 appearances across all competitions for Die Werkself this season.

Boniface’s imminent return bolsters Leverkusen’s pursuit of their first Bundesliga title, as they remain undefeated after 26 matches and currently hold a 10-point lead over Bayern Munich.
