A Federal High Court in Lagos convicted the well-known Nigerian cross dresser, Idris Okuneye, popularly known as Bobrisky, on charges related to the mutilation of Naira notes.
The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) prosecuted the case against Bobrisky.
Following his guilty plea to the charges brought against him, trial judge Justice Abimbola Awogboro convicted Bobrisky.
Sentencing was postponed until April 9, and the court ordered him to remain in EFCC custody until then.
The EFCC had filed a six-count charge against Bobrisky, which included allegations of tampering with Naira notes and money laundering.

During the court proceedings, Bobrisky pleaded guilty to counts one to four, leading to the striking out of counts five and six.
The prosecution presented evidence, including videos showing Bobrisky mutilating Naira notes.
Bobrisky admitted to his actions during the investigation, acknowledging his presence in the videos shown to him by the EFCC.
In his plea for leniency, Bobrisky stated that he was unaware of the law regarding the mutilation of Naira notes and expressed remorse for his actions.
His defense counsel also appealed for a non-custodial sentence.
The court reserved sentencing for April 9 and ordered Bobrisky to remain in EFCC custody until then.
