Kannywood, the Hausa film industry, mourns the loss of one of its beloved actresses, Saratu Gidado, popularly known as Daso, who passed away recently.
The news of her death was confirmed by a Kano-based private FM radio station, Aminchi Radio.
Daso’s career spanned 18 years in the film industry, where she made a significant impact with her talent and versatile performances. Prior to her acting career, she was a school teacher.
She was not only known in Kannywood but also featured in English films, showcasing her skills across different genres.

Renowned for her compelling portrayal of maternal figures on screen, Daso was regarded as one of the pioneers of the Hausa movie industry.
Her contribution to the industry and her memorable roles have left an indelible mark.
The Executive Secretary of the Kano State Censorship Board, Alhaji Abba El-Mustapha, expressed deep sorrow over Daso’s passing. He described her death as a great loss not only to her family and the Kannywood industry but to the entire Muslim community.
He prayed for her forgiveness and for her soul to find peace in Jannat ul Firdaus, the highest level of Paradise in Islam.
Additionally, he extended his condolences to her family and the film industry, praying for them to find strength during this difficult time.
