The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Oyo State has criticized Governor Seyi Makinde’s 2024 budget proposal, describing it as defective and unrealistic.
The party, in a statement by its Publicity Secretary, Olawale Sadare, expressed concerns about the economic direction of the state under Makinde’s administration.
Sadare urged the state House of Assembly not to rush the passage of the budget without conducting a thorough review, citing worries from pundits and economic experts about the state’s future under Makinde’s leadership.
He pointed out that the budget presented by the governor had a deficit of over N170 billion, raising questions about its realism.

The APC criticized the allocation of N21 billion to the Office of the Governor without a breakdown of specific expenses and another N485 million for Cabinet and Security services.
Sadare highlighted the deplorable condition of public facilities, including the Agodi State Secretariat and the Government House, which he described as an eyesore.
The party questioned the effectiveness of previous allocations to education, as public schools continue to suffer neglect.
Additionally, the APC raised concerns about the state’s reliance on the North for agricultural products despite having vast arable land and human resources.
The statement concluded by expressing disappointment in the lack of progress in agriculture, commerce, and job creation in the state over the last four years.
