The wife of the Anambra State Governor, Nonye Soludo, has called for enhanced welfare, love, and kindness towards children across the country to give them a sense of belonging and a hopeful future.
Soludo made this appeal on Sunday during her visit to Model Community Children Home in Awka, as part of this year’s Children’s Day celebrations.
She emphasized that children, especially those in orphanages, need and expect love, care, compassion, and attention during this period.
During the visit, the governor’s wife cooked for the children and distributed the food, also donating relief items, including cash.

Speaking to journalists after the celebration, she noted that children are the future of every country and need to be groomed with utmost care and protection, regardless of their family background.
She explained that her visit to the orphanage aligned with the spirit and significance of Children’s Day, which she described as a time to be with children and assist them in making life more enjoyable and meaningful.
“The Children’s Day, for me, is a significant period in the life of children. It is a time to give them a sense of belonging and assure them that the future is bright for them. They are the future of the nation and need to be groomed with utmost care and protection, irrespective of family background.
She emphasized that governments at all levels have increased efforts to provide safety measures for children through various humanitarian programs.
“I use this opportunity to call on everyone to show children love by creating safe and conducive spaces where they can learn the truth, imbibe the fear of God, and manifest it always,” she added.
In her appreciation, the Coordinator of Model Community Children’s Home Awka, Rev. Sister Philomena Akuchukwu, described Mrs. Soludo as a caring, humble, beautiful, lovely, and God-fearing mother, saying the orphanage will continue to pray for a better Anambra and the successful re-election of the state governor, Prof. Chukwuma Soludo.
