The Alake of Egba land has issued a call to the youth of Ogun State, urging them to shift their focus from pursuing white-collar jobs to engaging in agriculture as a means to address food crises prevalent in the state and Nigeria as a whole.

In his advisory, he encouraged civil servants not to rely solely on government employment but to also consider owning farmland to supplement their income.

Pointing out the shortcomings of white-collar employment opportunities in Nigeria, he stressed the importance of individual involvement in farming activities to reduce dependence on externally sourced agricultural products.

During a press briefing held at his palace for the Lisabi festival on Monday, the Alake emphasized the necessity for collective action rather than assigning blame solely to the government, advocating for small-scale farming as a viable solution.

The monarch unveiled the theme of the 38th Lisabi festival as ‘Encouraging Youth Entrepreneurship in Agribusiness: Panacea for Solving Youth Employment in Egbaland,’ which aims to provide Egba youths with land, equipment, seeds, and training through collaboration with international sponsors.

He expressed his belief that if Egba can sufficiently produce food, it will have a positive ripple effect, benefiting other regions within the state.
