Airtel Nigeria – Head, IT Operations

Job Title: Head, IT OperationsLocation: LagosEmployment Type: Full-timeJob Summary: Provide overall leadership, control, and decision-making, and take responsibility for the IT Infrastructure (DC, CCT, NWSM, Tools, etc.) & Operations Team in line with business expectations. Covering all business and enterprise systems and solutions to ensure 24×7 timely service delivery, availability, and supportability to Airtel Nigeria customers and internal business functions to ensure the achievement of the set business goals.Key Accountabilities:

  1. Manage and Control Infrastructure delivery:

    • Put in place the required functions to ensure a quality service from InfrastructureDevelop processes that deliver the unit as the ultimate point of escalation and resolutionDevelop operational plans with S1 partners that align with and deliver on the overall business objective

    Measure and Report Performance:

    • Drive performance by accurately and expediently reporting key Service Level Agreement measures against which infrastructure is assessedEnsure operational expenditure (opex) is in line with approved AOP

    Manage Infrastructure Roadmap:

    • Coordinate and control policies and functionsWork with the IT S1 to ensure smooth operations and continuous availability

    Build a capable and motivated team at Airtel Nigeria:

    • Recruit the right talent in consultation with the function head, as per defined recruitment guidelinesDevelop and motivate team members through structured training and on-the-job coachingEstablish performance expectations and regularly review individual performanceRecommend appropriate rewards and recognition

    Thought Leadership:

    • Provide technical knowledge and leadership in the specific infrastructure management activities covered by the department, notably DC, CCT, NWSM, ToolsEnsure 100% availability and optimization of resources within the governing SLAs

Educational Qualifications & Functional/Technical Skills:

  • University Degree in Computer Science and other related disciplinesProfessional qualification in Project Management TechniquesProfessional Qualification in ITIL and SIX Sigma with a focus on IT

Relevant Experience:

  • 8-10 years with a minimum of 3 years in a management role, preferably within the Telecoms industry.Experience in the implementation and operation of SLA’s and OLA’s delivery services to multiple business units/customersExperience in managing diverse and complex platforms and environments
