Osun State Governor, Ademola Adeleke, has appointed retired Chief Superintendent of Police, Mr. Adekunle Omoyele, as the new Corps Commander for Osun Amotekun Corps.

Amotekun is a security network established by the governors of the six South West states to complement federal security agencies.

The spokesperson for the security outfit, Idowu Yusuff, announced Omoyele’s appointment on Thursday, stating that he replaces Brig. Gen. Bashir Adewinmbi (retd.), who has completed his tenure as the immediate past Corps Commander.

Yusuff highlighted that Omoyele had previously served as the Chief Security Officer to Governor Adeleke following his retirement from the Nigeria Police Force after 35 years of service.

Recently, Omoyele was also appointed as the Special Adviser on Internal Security and Local Matters by Governor Adeleke.

“Governor of Osun State, Ademola Adeleke, has appointed retired senior police officer, CSP Adekunle Omoyele, as the new Corps Commander of Osun Amotekun Corps. CSP Omoyele’s appointment comes after the expiration of the tenure of Brig. Gen. Bashir Adewinmbi, the first Corps Commander of the security outfit. Omoyele was a former Chief Security Officer to the Executive Governor of Osun State, Ademola Adeleke.

He retired recently after meritorious service to the Nigeria Police Force for 35 years and was appointed by Governor Ademola Adeleke as the Special Adviser on Internal Security and Local Matters, now the Corps Commander of Osun Amotekun Corps,” Yusuff said.

According to the statement by Yusuff, Omoyele’s appointment takes immediate effect.
