Renowned elder statesman Chief Ayo Adebanjo has emphatically clarified that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu is not his adversary but rather his son.

As a leader of the Yoruba socio-cultural group Afenifere, Adebanjo emphasized that their differences are solely rooted in political matters, and he holds no enmity towards the President.

Speaking at the public presentation of Chief Edwin Kiagbodo Clark’s autobiography, “Brutally Frank,” held at MUSON Centre Onikan, Lagos, on Tuesday, November 21, 2023, Adebanjo expressed admiration for President Tinubu as a generous individual who has consistently granted him favors whenever requested.

The only point of contention, according to Adebanjo, revolves around the national question and political disagreements.

Addressing the audience, Adebanjo stressed the importance of unity and progress for the country. He urged nationalists, including Bola Tinubu, to prioritize the issue of Nigeria remaining united.

Acknowledging Tinubu as his son, Adebanjo reiterated that their relationship remains strong despite their differing political perspectives.

Adebanjo passionately advocated for revisiting the 2014 National Conference organized during President Goodluck Jonathan’s administration.

He declared it the best thing that happened to Nigeria and urged younger generations to implement its recommendations for the country’s economic advancement.

Adebanjo praised President Jonathan for organizing the conference, asserting that he will be remembered as the best president in Nigeria’s history for this initiative.

He urged against wasting resources on setting up new conferences, insisting on the implementation of the 2014 National Conference’s recommendations.

Adebanjo called for a change in the constitution to reflect federalism as outlined in the conference, emphasizing that any other approach would be mere pretense.
