Lebanon has reported that an Israeli airstrike on Friday severed the primary international road to Syria.

This comes after Israel accused Hezbollah of using Lebanon’s main border crossing for transporting weapons.

While Israel has not commented on the strike, it coincides with intensified bombardments on Hezbollah’s strongholds in Beirut and the ongoing war between Israel and Hezbollah.

The recent attacks have led to the displacement of 310,000 people, mostly Syrians, seeking safety in neighboring Syria.

These developments follow Israel’s focus on securing its northern border with Lebanon, after nearly a year of escalating tensions with Hezbollah.

Hezbollah had been launching low-intensity strikes on Israel in support of its Gaza allies, forcing tens of thousands of Israelis to flee the north.

Israeli bombardments have resulted in over 1,000 deaths in Lebanon since September 23, as reported by Lebanon’s health ministry, with significant damage and further displacement in a country already facing a severe economic crisis.

The strikes have targeted Hezbollah’s infrastructure, and reports suggest Israel aimed to take out key figures, including potential Hezbollah leaders.

Meanwhile, Iran’s supreme leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei is set to deliver a sermon in the wake of these escalating tensions, especially after Iran’s missile attacks on Israel in retaliation for the killing of Hezbollah leader Hassan Nasrallah.

Iran has vowed to increase its response if Israel continues its offensive.

On the ground, Israeli forces have entered southern Lebanon, a Hezbollah stronghold, amid ongoing rocket fire from Hezbollah targeting northern Israel.

As tensions continue to rise, with warnings from both Israel and Iran, there are concerns about further regional destabilization and a prolonged conflict.
