The Oyo State Police Command announced on Friday the arrest of Muyideen Raimi for exhuming and decapitating the corpse of his late cousin, Sulaiman Aromokun.

Raimi, who allegedly carried out the act with an accomplice currently at large, exhumed his cousin’s body from the Aromokun compound in Isale Ijebu, Ibadan.

While parading the suspect at the command headquarters in Eleyele, Ibadan, the Commissioner of Police confirmed the arrest, stating, “The police have arrested Muyideen Raimi for exhuming and decapitating his late cousin, Sulaiman Aromokun, who was buried at the Aromokun compound in Isale Ijebu, Ibadan.”

The police reported that Raimi was apprehended with the severed head and has confessed to the crime, implicating an accomplice known as Sumaila, alias Baba Ibeji, who remains at large.

Raimi revealed that their intention was to use the skull for a money ritual. The investigation is ongoing, with further developments expected to be communicated.

In a separate case, the Oyo State Police Command also paraded Muhammad Adekunle, a suspected ritualist, for allegedly killing individuals and selling their body parts in Ibadan.

According to the police, Adekunle, along with accomplices Lukman, Olobe, and Ifa—who are currently at large—conspired to murder people for ritual purposes in January 2024.

While presenting the suspects, the police revealed that in April 2024, Adekunle and his accomplices lured Adekola Sodiq to Moniya, where they severed his head and legs.

These body parts were then sold to Obaleye Sanmi and Ismail Olalekan.

Further confessions disclosed that on August 7, 2024, Adekunle and his group murdered Malik Kareem, severing his head and legs, which they sold to Rashidat Akanji at Oje Market for N70,000.

On August 11, 2024, at approximately 06:30 hours, a search warrant was executed at the suspects’ premises, where fresh human flesh was recovered.

Adekunle confessed that the flesh was part of Malik Kareem, who had been killed on August 7, 2024.

During the investigation, additional suspects, including Muniru Salawudeen, Rashidat Akanji, Ismail Olalekan, and Obaleye Sanmi, were arrested.

They admitted to purchasing various human parts for rituals from Adekunle.

On August 10, 2024, at around 00:15 hours, a complaint was made by a resident of Ayede about an offensive odor emanating from a building owned by Muhammad Adekunle.

Although Adekunle was not typically resident at the location, he was known to visit at odd hours.

Police operatives from the Moniya Divisional Headquarters responded and discovered a dry well containing mutilated human remains.

The remains of three unidentified bodies were recovered and taken to the State Hospital Morgue for preservation and autopsy.

The Commissioner added that photographs were taken during the investigation.
