Former Chelsea midfielder Mikel Obi has firmly declared his commitment to helping his fellow Nigerian, Victor Osimhen, join the London club, according to Saving Point Media.

In a video shared on X, the former Super Eagles captain revealed that another Chelsea legend, Didier Drogba, is also in touch with the Napoli striker, aiming to persuade him to move to Stamford Bridge.

As the summer transfer window nears its end, Osimhen’s future continues to be a hot topic of speculation.

The striker has requested to leave Napoli and is rumored to be a target for Chelsea, potentially involving a swap deal with Romelu Lukaku.

Chelsea have already made several signings this summer, including Pedro Neto, Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall, Marc Guiu, and Filip Jorgensen.

However, they seem prepared to further bolster their squad, with the 25-year-old Osimhen high on their list of desired players for the 2024/25 season.

Just weeks before the transfer window closes, Mikel expressed his intention to support the club in acquiring their main target, whom he believes would excel in the English Premier League.

“We want someone who can finish, score goals, and handle the tap-ins. Someone like Erling Haaland,” Mikel said.

“Victor Osimhen is exactly what Chelsea needs. I hope Chelsea fans will see him join the club. I’ll be sending him messages and calls, making sure Chelsea is his top choice! He seems to love the club and wants to come to Chelsea.

“I’m confident that many top clubs are interested in him. If we can secure his signature, it would be a tremendous boost for the team. He’s a goal-scorer, and that’s something we need right now.

“He’s a fantastic player and person, and I’ll do my best to make this happen. Didier is also talking to him, sharing his views on what the club represents. We all want to see Victor come to Chelsea.”

Osimhen has become one of Europe’s most coveted strikers, with interest from Chelsea, Arsenal, Paris Saint-Germain, Manchester United, and Liverpool following his impressive performances with Napoli.

However, his steep €130 million price tag has been a major obstacle, causing PSG and other suitors to withdraw. As a result, Chelsea remains the only European club still actively pursuing his signature.
