The hearing on the Kano Emirates dispute has commenced at the Federal High Court complex on Court Road in Kano, with a significant presence of security personnel both in and around the facility.
According to Punch Online, the nationwide strike over the new minimum wage had affected the hearing on the restraining order against the reinstatement of Muhammadu Sanusi II as the 16th Emir by the Kano government last Thursday, resulting in the hearing being rescheduled to today.
Previously, a Federal High Court in Kano had issued an order preventing the Kano State Government from enforcing the Kano State Emirate Council Repeal Law.

Justice Mohammed Liman granted this order following an application by Aminu Babba Dan Agundi, the Sarkin Dawaki Babba of the Kano Emirate.
At the resumed hearing on Thursday, officers of the Nigeria Police Force and operatives of the Department of State Services (DSS) strategically positioned their vehicles around the court to maintain law and order and restrict movement.
Traffic, including cars, vehicles, and motorbikes, is currently being diverted from Court Road to Zoo Road and the Gyadi-Gyadi area of the town during the hearing.
The crisis in Kano began two weeks ago when the state governor, Abba Yusuf, deposed Bayero as the Emir of Kano along with four other first-class Emirs of Rano, Bichi, Karaye, and Gaya.
He then reinstated Lamido Sanusi as the Emir following the repeal of the law that former Kano state governor, Abdullahi Ganduje, used to depose and exile him in 2020.
Sanusi, the former 14th Emir of Kano, was removed in 2020 for alleged insubordination to the Ganduje-led government, and Bayero was installed as his successor.
Sanusi, who was also the former Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria, was exiled to Awe, a rural community in Nasarawa State, by Ganduje.
