The tragic death of 14-year-old Harris Wolobah from Massachusetts has shed light on the dangers of social media challenges.

Wolobah died of cardiac arrest after participating in the “One Chip Challenge,” a dare involving consuming a single chip dusted with extremely hot peppers, including Carolina Reaper and Naga Viper peppers.

Saving Point Media reports that the autopsy of the boy revealed that Wolobah’s cardiac arrest was triggered by ingesting a large amount of capsaicin, a chili pepper extract, present in the chip.

Additionally, it was found that the teenager had an enlarged heart, which could have contributed to his fatal outcome.

The “One Chip Challenge” has been popular on social media, with participants daring each other to consume the extremely spicy chip.

Unfortunately, Wolobah’s case underscores the serious health risks associated with such challenges.

Following his death, the company behind the chip, Paqui, removed the product from store shelves.

This tragic incident serves as a sobering reminder of the potential dangers posed by viral internet challenges.
