Former National Publicity Secretary of the Peoples Democratic Party, Chief Olisa Metuh, marked the 62nd birthday of incarcerated former Deputy Senate President, Ike Ekweremadu, on Sunday, alongside Ekweremadu’s daughters and other family members.

Metuh shared the celebration on X.com, expressing pride in Ekweremadu’s daughters, particularly Sonia, for their strength and resilience during challenging times.

In his post, Metuh mentioned cutting a birthday cake in Ekweremadu’s honor and enjoying a meal together, while praying for Ekweremadu’s peace, good health, and eventual reunion.

March 2023, Saving Point Media revealed Ekweremadu’s conviction, along with his wife, Beatrice, for organ trafficking in the United Kingdom.

Alongside a medical doctor, Dr. Obinna Obeta, they were found guilty of facilitating the travel of a young man to Britain for exploitation after a six-week trial at the Old Bailey.

Subsequently, in May 2023, a UK court sentenced Ekweremadu to nine years and eight months imprisonment, while Beatrice received a four-year and six-month sentence for their involvement in a plot to harvest a man’s kidney.
