Ahmadu Saminu, a 25-year-old fortune teller from Bajoga in the Funakaye Local Government Area of Gombe State, has been apprehended by the Gombe State Police Command.
Known locally as Malam Mai Batalia, Saminu operated as a fortune teller, providing interpretations of dreams and visions for a diverse clientele from various LGAs, the state, and neighboring areas.
However, his activities took a dark turn when a woman, allegedly seeking interpretation for a nightmare, was reportedly hypnotized and sexually assaulted by Saminu.
According to sources, the victim visited Saminu following a disturbing dream, only to be manipulated and assaulted during the encounter.

Confirming the arrest and allegations, Gombe State Police Public Relations Officer, ASP Buhari Abdullahi, stated that Saminu was arrested for allegedly impregnating someone’s wife.
The victim, aged 20, visited Saminu after dreaming about her mother being a witch, seeking guidance.
However, she was reportedly lured into Saminu’s room and assaulted.
Regarding the alleged pregnancy, Abdullahi mentioned that medical examinations were pending to verify the claim, as the victim stated she had been pregnant for four months but experienced bleeding and subsequent miscarriage.
Concerns have been raised by residents of Funakaye regarding the reported efforts to secure Saminu’s release.
Some believe that influential individuals with whom Saminu has connections are pressuring for his release.
Residents expressed worry that releasing Saminu without appropriate consequences could provoke backlash, with some youths reportedly considering drastic measures such as retaliation against his property.
