The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) in Osun State apprehended a fake doctor, Oladiti Saheed, 32, following the death of a pregnant woman whom he delivered of a baby.
Saheed, operating under the guise of a doctor with only a secondary school certificate, had been running Oloruntoyin Clinic in Ororuwa town, Boripe local government area of the state for over six years.
According to NSCDC spokesperson Kehinde Adeleke, the suspect was also involved in training youths for a fee of N5000 each.
A pregnant woman visited his clinic for consultation, where she was diagnosed with hypertension. Saheed administered medication and scheduled a follow-up appointment.

When the woman began experiencing labor symptoms on April 18, 2024, she returned to the clinic and delivered a baby.
However, complications arose, and she was rushed to a licensed hospital where she was pronounced dead upon arrival.
Further investigation uncovered Saheed’s involvement in training individuals to become quack doctors like himself for a fee.
Commandant Michael Adaralewa of the NSCDC in Osun State affirmed that the suspect would face legal consequences once investigations are concluded.
He cautioned the public to be vigilant when seeking medical attention and to verify the credentials of healthcare institutions they patronize.
