A Special tactical team from the Delta State Police Command, Asaba, has apprehended two individuals suspected to be kidnappers and recovered the bodies of two female victims from a forest area between Ughelli North and Okpe Local Government Areas of Delta State.

The arrest and recovery followed a gun battle between the police team and the suspects.

The arrested suspects, identified as Edafe Richmond Akpoveve and Igho Midiyoraye, were captured at their hideout after one of their kidnapped victims managed to escape and raise an alarm.

The escaped victim narrated her harrowing experience, recounting how she was abducted at gunpoint while boarding a tricycle and subsequently blindfolded and taken to an unknown location.

She described witnessing the stabbing deaths of two other female victims, highlighting the brutal tactics employed by the kidnappers to extort ransom money from their victims’ families.

Upon her escape during a moment of chaos, the victim sought refuge in a nearby house and eventually notified the police of the incident.

The subsequent police operation led to the arrest of the suspects and the recovery of the victims’ bodies.

SP Bright Edafe, the Delta State Police Public Relations Officer, confirmed the incident and provided details of the police operation.

He stated that the police, acting on a kidnapping report, conducted a raid on the suspects’ hideout in Eruemukohwarian Community, Ughelli North LGA.

During the raid, two suspects were apprehended after a pursuit, and efforts are ongoing to apprehend other fleeing suspects involved in the criminal activities.

The arrested suspects have been identified by the victim, and investigations are ongoing to bring all perpetrators to justice.

The police have intensified efforts to address kidnapping and other criminal activities in the area, ensuring the safety and security of residents.
