A multitude of demonstrators flooded the national headquarters of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Abuja today, calling for the immediate resignation of the National Chairman, Dr. Abdullahi Ganduje.

This demand follows Ganduje’s recent suspension by a faction of his ward executives and allegations of bribery leveled against him by the Kano State government.

The protesters, chanting solidarity songs and brandishing banners bearing messages such as “Ganduje must resign” and “Return APC chairmanship to North Central,” urged President Bola Tinubu and the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, George Akume, to consider reinstating party leadership to their region.

The agitation surfaces just two days after the Forum of APC State Chairmen expressed confidence in Ganduje and endorsed him to continue as the national chairman during a solidarity visit to the party’s headquarters.

Ganduje faced another suspension recently from a faction of the Ganduje Ward in Dawakin Tofa Local Government Area of Kano, an action deemed by the ruling party as orchestrated by impostors allegedly sponsored by the state government.

Speaking to the press in Abuja, the protesters, under the banner of Concerned North Central APC Stakeholders, voiced their dissatisfaction, asserting that Ganduje’s continued tenure violates the party’s zoning process.

Mohammed Mahmud Saba, the leader of the demonstrators, emphasized that unlike the 37 APC state chairmen who backed Ganduje, the North Central region has passed a vote of no confidence in the national chairman and demanded his immediate resignation.

The protesters urged all APC governors in the North Central to mobilize against Ganduje’s tenure until he steps down as the national chairman.
