The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has issued a stern warning to candidates participating in the 2024 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examinations (UTME) to refrain from disclosing their personal details to fraudulent individuals.
During a media interaction at the JAMB Professional Centre in Bwari, the Board Registrar, Prof Is-haq Oloyede, emphasized the significance of the ongoing examination, highlighting significant strides made in enhancing security measures over the past seven years.
“Those engaging in fraudulent activities are facing consequences as security agencies have been highly effective in apprehending them,” Oloyede stated, commending the Inspector-General of Police, Director-General of the Department of State Services, Director-General of the Nigerian Security and Civil Defence Corp, and the Nigerian Police Force National CyberCrime Centre for their cooperation.

Oloyede affirmed that the examination is proceeding smoothly, attributing this to the cooperation of the public, particularly parents who have refrained from causing disruptions, contrary to previous exercises where parental interference was noted.
Acknowledging reports of technical glitches, Oloyede assured affected candidates of rescheduling their examinations. He noted that despite minor issues, the majority of centers were operating efficiently.
“We appeal for understanding as occasional center failures may occur due to varying levels of infrastructure across the country. However, candidates should refrain from causing disruptions if such issues arise,” Oloyede advised.
He urged CBT center owners to maintain secure premises by restricting non-candidates and parents from proximity to the centers.
Additionally, he cautioned candidates against relying on tutorial centers, labeling them as hubs of corruption and malpractices.
Fatimah Abba, Supervisor-in-charge of the JAMB Professional Centre in Kogo, Bwari, confirmed the absence of technical issues during the examinations.
Candidates expressed confidence in the conduct of the exams, urging JAMB to uphold the current standard.
