Amidst the commencement of the 2024 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination on Friday, the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has assured candidates experiencing glitches during the exam that they will be rescheduled.

Professor Ishaq Oloyode, the JAMB Registrar, made this assurance while speaking with reporters after monitoring the exam in Kogo-Bwari, Abuja.

He noted that despite some technical challenges encountered at one center, the UTME has generally progressed smoothly.

Oloyode explained that such issues were anticipated, considering varying levels of infrastructure across the country.

He emphasized the need for understanding and cooperation, urging affected candidates not to disrupt others.

If a session fails due to technical problems, those candidates will be rescheduled, typically after 4:30 p.m., to allow others to continue with subsequent sessions.

Furthermore, Oloyode addressed concerns about awarding scholarships solely based on UTME scores, highlighting the importance of considering additional admission criteria such as O Level grades and post-UTME scores.

The 2024 UTME continues nationwide today and tomorrow.
