US-based Nigerian bodybuilder, Michael Chidozie, tragically passed away 18 days after sustaining multiple gunshot wounds from his wife, Keaiirra Shavoiyae, during an argument on March 21.

The incident occurred in their Houston apartment in the presence of their two young children.

Chidozie suffered severe spinal injuries from the shooting and remained on life support until his death on April 8, as reported by Daily Mail.

He was rushed to Ben Taub Hospital following the incident, where he was treated for gunshot wounds to his torso, arm, and chest, as detailed in court documents by Houston media outlet, ABC13.

Keaiirra Shavoiyae, 28, was initially charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon and claims she acted in self-defense, fearing for her life during the altercation.

Despite Chidozie’s death, her charges have not been upgraded.

Keaiirra has been released on bail and is scheduled to appear in court on May 23. Meanwhile, Chidozie’s family is seeking to raise $70,000 to repatriate his body to Nigeria for burial.

A GoFundMe campaign has been initiated to assist with the funeral expenses.

This tragic incident follows the earlier report by Saving Point Media in January, where an American-based Nigerian singer, Osazuwa Agbonayinma, popularly known as Zuwa, was fatally shot in the United States.
