The Nnamdi Azikiwe University, Awka, is currently gripped by palpable fear following the mysterious disappearance of one of its students, Francisca Chioma, from the Department of Science Education.
Chioma was reported missing after she set out to attend a burial in a village outside Awka, Anambra State, on Friday, and has not been heard from since then.
A schoolmate and friend, speaking anonymously, revealed the troubling situation, expressing concerns that Chioma might have been kidnapped during her journey.
Attempts to reach Chioma on her phone have been unsuccessful, further raising fears about her safety.
Emma Ojukwu, the Special Assistant on Public Relations Matters and Special Duty to the Vice-Chancellor, Prof.
Charles Esimone, directed inquiries to the university’s security department when contacted for comment.

The Chief Security Officer of the institution, Ken Chukwurah, confirmed the incident, stating that the Department of State Services (DSS) has been involved since the previous day.
He clarified that the alleged kidnapping did not occur on campus and emphasized that relevant security agencies have been contacted.
Chukwurah mentioned that the kidnappers have been in touch with the family, although it’s unclear if they have made any ransom demands.
Efforts to reach the Anambra State police spokesman, SP Tochukwu Ikenga, for further details were unsuccessful as calls and messages to his phone went unanswered.
The situation remains tense as the university community anxiously awaits developments and hopes for Chioma’s safe return.
