Today, Thursday, marks the long-awaited reunion of the 137 Kaduna schoolchildren, who were rescued from terrorists, with their families.
Announced by the state government last Sunday, the students were successfully rescued from Zamfara State and welcomed back to Kaduna on Monday by Governor Uba Sani.
Major General Mayirenso Saraso, the General Officer Commanding 1 Div, revealed that six of the rescued students were receiving medical treatment at the Army medical facility in Kaduna due to injuries sustained during their ordeal. Tragically, one of the abducted teachers did not survive the captivity.

Dr. Abdulkadir Meyere, the Secretary to the State Government of Kaduna State, declared on Wednesday that the students would formally reunite with their families today.
This announcement came during their stay at the Women and Children Shelter, where they were receiving psychosocial therapy and medical evaluation.
During the meeting at the Government House, the SSG assured the parents that the children would only return to Kuriga after the Governor personally bid them farewell upon his return from Abuja.
Expressing profound gratitude, one of the parents, Idris Abdullahi, lauded the government’s relentless efforts in rescuing the students and fervently prayed for divine blessings upon them.
In heartfelt testimonies, parents shared the harrowing experience of uncertainty and expressed immense relief at the safe return of their children.
They commended the collaborative efforts of government officials, including the President, the Kaduna State Governor, and military leaders, in ensuring the swift rescue of the abducted students.
Suleiman Lawal, one of the rescued students, attributed their safe return to divine intervention and expressed gratitude to the government for their prompt action and support.
Another student, Aisha Mohammed, echoed the sentiment, emphasizing the pivotal role played by the government in reuniting them with their families and restoring hope for their future education.
As the families prepare to embrace their children once again, they remain hopeful for a brighter future and express heartfelt appreciation for the unwavering support received during this challenging time.
