On Thursday, the Ogun State Police Command engaged in a shootout with suspected kidnappers who had abducted the farm manager of Flourishing Poultry Farm, Idowa in Odogbolu Local Government area.

The farm manager, Tunde Osifowokan, was taken by eight masked kidnappers who stormed the farm on Monday.

Despite demands for the farm owner’s whereabouts, Osifowokan, the owner’s brother, was taken when he revealed the owner wasn’t present.

The police, led by Commissioner Abiodun Alamutu, had been tracking the kidnappers since the incident.

They raided the kidnappers’ hideout in Odogbolu forest on Thursday, resulting in a fierce gun battle where five kidnappers were killed, while others escaped with injuries.

Exhibits recovered included cash, a sword, cellphones, drugs, charms, and weapon shells.

Osifowokan was rescued unharmed, and the kidnappers’ bodies were taken to a hospital morgue for autopsy.

The police are now intensifying efforts to apprehend the remaining suspects.
