Ondo State Governor, Lucky Aiyedatiwa, has announced the allocation of a N1.2 billion grant to Olusegun Agagu University of Science and Technology, Okitipupa, to facilitate the completion of several stalled projects on the campus.

The governor, who also serves as the Visitor to the university, made this declaration during the institution’s second convocation ceremony, held at the university campus in Okitipupa.

Governor Aiyedatiwa highlighted the significance of the university’s ongoing School of Maritime Transport and Logistics project, which is at 60% completion by OSOPADEC (Ondo State Oil-producing Areas Development Commission).

He emphasized its strategic importance to the Ondo State Deep Seaport Project and the development of the Blue Economy in the country.

Furthermore, Aiyedatiwa disclosed the approval of a N1.2 billion capital grant in the 2024 budget for OAUSTECH.

This allocation aims to expedite the completion of abandoned structures within the School of Science and other vital facilities.

Additionally, he assured that the university’s monthly subvention of N91 million would be given proper attention to enhance its operational efficiency.

The governor pledged to facilitate the timely completion of hostel buildings funded by the Niger Delta Development Commission and OSOPADEC.

He also announced the automatic employment for Miss Adedayo Janet, the best-graduating student at the university, as a commendation for her outstanding academic achievement.

Addressing the graduating students, Governor Aiyedatiwa urged them to uphold excellence and represent their alma mater, Ondo State, and the nation positively wherever they go.

He emphasized the importance of contributing meaningfully to societal development.

In his welcome address, the Pro-Chancellor, Prof. Adebo Adesomoju, expressed appreciation to Governor Aiyedatiwa for prioritizing the continuation of internal road construction within the university premises.

The Vice Chancellor, Prof. Temi Ologunorisa, revealed that a total of 1,202 students were conferred with degrees during the 2021/2022 and 2022/2023 academic sessions.

He highlighted the university’s transition from a teaching institution to a research-focused university, with notable achievements in research initiatives.
