After facing cyberbullying and criticism following Nigeria’s defeat to Ivory Coast in the Africa Cup of Nations final, Super Eagles player Alex Iwobi has made a comeback on Instagram.
The midfielder had previously deleted all posts on his account in response to the attacks targeted at him.
Nigerians expressed dissatisfaction with Iwobi’s midfield performance during the game, directing blame towards him and inundating his Instagram page with threats and insults.
In response, the 27-year-old chose to clear his profile of over a hundred posts.

However, on Saturday night, Iwobi returned to Instagram, sharing a video that hinted at his resilience.
In the video, he offered a preview of an unreleased rap song, interspersed with clips of his football games, exuding self-confidence and dismissing criticisms.
Support poured in for Iwobi from various quarters, including Minister of Sports Development, Senator John Enoh, who encouraged him to remain resilient amidst the heavy criticism.
Additionally, his uncle, Austin Jay Jay Okocha, and fellow football star, Ahmed Musa, along with others, rallied behind Iwobi, urging his attackers to desist.
