Former Ogun State Information Commissioner, Chief Fassy Yusuf, has expressed confidence that all issues dividing Ijebu and Remo leaders over the proposed Ijebu State will be resolved amicably.
Speaking on a radio show on Monday, Yusuf stated that traditional councils and major stakeholders of Ijebu and Remo would address issues, including the location of the capital of the proposed state, through dialogue and consensus.
The proposal for the creation of Ijebu State was revisited by sixty members of the House of Representatives last week in a bill they sponsored, seeking the creation of three new states out of the South West region’s six states.

According to the bill, the capital of the proposed Ijebu State would be in Ijebu Ode, and all the local government areas in the Ogun East Senatorial District would form the new state.
Yusuf emphasized the need for collaboration between Remo and Ijebu to ensure that the opportunity to create a new state out of Ogun State is not missed.
He highlighted the historical support of Ijebu for Remo in producing all the governors from the Ogun East Senatorial District since 1999.
The former commissioner expressed optimism about the viability of Ijebu State if created, citing the availability of crude oil, bitumen deposits, a deep coastline, and an airport within the local government areas that would constitute the proposed state.
