The Association of Master Bakers and Caterers of Nigeria has announced a notice for the stoppage of production by its members effective February 27, 2024.

Chief Adeniyi Gabriel, the Kogi State Chairman of the Association, revealed that the national president, Alhaji Mansur Umar, had already issued the production stoppage notice.

Speaking at a news conference in Lokoja, Gabriel attributed the decision to various factors, including the sudden rise in prices of baking materials and diesel, which he linked to the removal of petrol subsidy and multiple taxation.

The association is advocating for concessionary foreign exchange rates to facilitate the importation of baking materials, aiming to address the challenges faced by its members in sustaining production amidst economic pressures.
