The Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) has credited the Super Eagles’ AFCON quarter-final victory to President Bola Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda.

NFF President Ibrahim Gusau, in a conversation with the News Agency of Nigeria in Abidjan on Saturday, expressed gratitude to Tinubu for his support and underscored the President’s dedication to sports development, particularly football.

After securing a 1-0 win over Angola with Ademola Lookman’s goal assisted by Moses Simon, Gusau commended Tinubu’s motivational address to the team.

The NFF President highlighted Tinubu’s commitment to sports development, stating, “You heard what he said. He said, ‘Boys go there, believe in me.

You don’t have any problem, and whatever issues you are facing, just believe in me. Go and do the job, and you’ll see the result.’”

Gusau expressed confidence that Tinubu would generously reward the team, emphasizing the historic significance of potentially winning the trophy for Nigeria.

The NFF reiterated its promise to deliver the trophy to Tinubu and urged Nigerians to continue supporting the team in their upcoming semi-final match, the opponent for which will be decided between Cape Verde and South Africa.

The AFCON tournament, which commenced on January 13 in Cote d’Ivoire, is scheduled to conclude on February 11.
