Ondo State Governor, Mr. Lucky Aiyedatiwa, has appointed Mr. Olaide Adelami, a former Deputy Clerk of the National Assembly, as the deputy governor of the state.
This decision came shortly after the governor dismissed all commissioners and special advisers on Wednesday.
According to a statement by the Chief Press Secretary to the governor, Mr. Ebenezer Adeniyan, the nomination of the new deputy governor has been forwarded to the state House of Assembly for approval.
The House of Assembly is expected to announce the nomination later.
Adelami, who retired as Deputy Clerk to the National Assembly in April 2018, is from Owo, Owo Local Government Area, the same LGA as the late Governor Rotimi Akeredolu.

He was an APC governorship aspirant in 2020 but withdrew from the race in support of Akeredolu.
In a 2020 interview with The PUNCH, Adelami mentioned that joining politics was not part of his initial plans.
However, he became involved in field politics when he was assigned to coordinate Ondo State for the Presidential Support Committee of the All Progressives Congress.
Adelami expressed confidence in his ability to manage the state’s resources effectively.
Governor Aiyedatiwa had dissolved the State Executive Council and relieved all Senior Special Assistants and Special Assistants of their duties, with immediate effect.
The affected officials were directed to hand over all government properties in their possession.
The governor thanked them for their services and contributions to the state’s development.
Aiyedatiwa was sworn in as the substantive governor on December 27, 2023, following the death of Governor Rotimi Akeredolu.
